This
year on September 9th, 2001 Armadillo Digital Audio is hosting
their First Annual Motorcycle Ride for Autism.
This ride is to increase public awareness of autism and related
spectrum disorders and to raise funds for The Autism Society of Los Angeles. ASLA's mission is to
enable persons with autism to achieve self-determination and self-fulfillment,
living, working and playing as integrated, respected, responsible members of
society. It accomplishes these goals by providing families, their children and
adults with autism with education, advocacy, referrals, and the promotion of
research and services. ASLA promotes lifelong access and opportunity for all
individuals within the autism spectrum.
Why
has Armadillo Digital Audio chosen this particular fundraiser for their first
philanthropic effort?
In October the owners of Armadillo Digital Audio, Steve and Thresa
Katz, received the diagnosis of autism for their young son, Jordan.
Research has shown that early intervention is key in helping autistic
kids progress developmentally and lead productive lives – but public
awareness and research for this disorder is still lacking.
The Katz Family is determined to do whatever they can to raise
awareness and money for research efforts in the field of autism.
To
make donations, go to the pledge form, fill it out and make checks playable to
ASLA. Mail to the ASLA or Armadillo Digital Audio or you can turn them
in at the ride. Riders are encouraged to get pledges for their participation.
Remember it is tax deductible.
